E-rate
E-rate is a federal program of the Federal Communications Commission administered by the Schools and Libraries Division of the Universal Service Administrative Company that provides eligible K-12 public schools and libraries 20% to 90% discounts on approved telecommunications, Internet access, and internal connections costs. (more)
USAC's Schools and Libraries News Brief will give you information about upcoming funding commitments, tips to help you through the application process, and other timely information. This electronic news brief is issued weekly.
Public School Districts, Charter Schools, and Private Schools must have a written Technology Use Plan before they file their E-rate Form 470 for the following year. The tech plan must be state approved before the filing of Form 486 to receive funding. Any active, EETT-approved tech plan has automatic approval for E-rate.
Be sure to complete the E-Rate Technology Planning Addendum to match your plan to your Form 470 blocks. Redo this annually and keep at the district office as it is not part of the submission process but critical for audits.
Technology plans must be submitted electronically to harbison_marylou@lacoe.edu. For more information call (562) 922-6244.
