Assessment Resources

In a climate of accountability and data-driven decision making (DDDM), data tools and resources need to be readily available for educators and support staff. The California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP) promotes a variety of resources, tools, and action steps to support school improvement using assessment data for planning and implementing instructional strategies at the district, school, classroom, and individual student levels.

Data analysis with Excel
The following files help to facilitate the process of analyzing data from the STAR (http://star.cde.ca.gov) website. The files have been updated to adapt to changes in 2008 data!

These files are for use on both Mac and PC. It is recommended that you only download the files you need. Look at the grade level in the file name to select the appropriate file. These files are currently updated to work with STAR California Standards Test data for 2008, 2007, and 2006.

Download the selected file to your desktop. You may want to rename it when you add your school's data. For best results, if using a PC, please use Microsoft Internet Explorer as your browser. If using a Mac, please use Safari. Other browsers may work, but could yield unexpected results. At this time, Firefox is not recommended.
